The German auto giant plans to work jointly on a driverless control system with the American company Intel Corp. and video technology specialists Mobileye.

As Reuters reports, the partnership was announced at a meeting with journalists on July 1. The participants in the cooperation emphasized that their development will be offered not only to themselves, but also to other market players. BMW chief Harald Krüger noted that it is still premature to name specific partners in the alliance.

Among the first cars created on the new platform may be the iNext model, which is seen as a competitor to Elon Musk's Tesla Motors electric cars. The head of the Bavarian company explained that this car will not only be self-driving, but will also bring fresh solutions in the field of electric traction.
