Health analysis allows the system to anticipate possible future breakdowns. Similar technology is used in the Boeing 787 aircraft. The system operates using the OnStar satellite service, and the technical condition analysis, as reported by General Motors, is carried out by a "complex system that collects billions of pieces of information."
Proactive Alerts can detect battery discharge, fuel pump performance, starter, and other malfunctions.

If errors or malfunctions are detected, the system notifies the owner via SMS or an email. If a breakdown is detected while starting the engine or during driving, the system displays a notification on the multimedia system screen.
According to Chevrolet, the Proactive Alerts service is already available for 2016 model year vehicles of the following models: Chevrolet Silverado, Tahoe, Suburban, Corvette, and Equinox.
