BMW has announced that their autonomous driving system will be officially unveiled in 2016. The wait won't be long — the presentation will likely take place on March 7, when the Bavarian company celebrates its centennial anniversary.

To test the autopilot, BMW is conducting trials in China, where the road infrastructure features complex multi-level interchanges. Prior to this, the experimental vehicle had already covered tens of thousands of kilometers on European highways.

It's worth noting that the current BMW 7-Series is already capable of moving without driver intervention, but only at low speeds. In traffic jams and during parking, the car independently controls the distance, slowing down and accelerating without human input.
