According to the inventors, coffee waste can serve as a source of environmentally friendly energy. After all, the oil content in coffee grounds is about 20 percent (almost like rapeseed, from which biofuel is made).

By the way, the startup quickly found investors. They were the oil and gas giant Royal Dutch Shell Plc and even the London City Hall. They have already invested several million euros. In addition, the authors of the "coffee diesel" received half a million euros for winning the Green Challenge competition.

According to bio-bean, 1 ton of coffee waste can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 6.8 tons.
