According to forecasts by Robert Bosch GmbH, starting from 2020, the electric vehicle market will become mass-market. The development and introduction into production of more efficient battery packs means greater range, and for consumers, more compact batteries mean lower cost.

In the new venture Lithium Energy and Power GmbH & Co, Bosch owns 50% of shares, while GS Yuasa International Ltd and Mitsubishi Corporation hold equal stakes of 25% each. Bosch will contribute its technologies in battery production and battery management systems.
Additionally, the German company will contribute by implementing know-how in organizing production processes and quality management for large-scale series production. GS Yuasa has many years of experience in producing lithium-ion cells. It will also provide expertise in the use of materials and electrochemistry.
Mitsubishi Corporation will contribute as a globally integrated enterprise with an international sales network.
