In the first month of 2025, AvtoVAZ sold 20.8 thousand cars, which turned out to be 0.2% less than in the same period a year earlier. February, judging by forecasts, also does not promise improvement: it is expected that Lada sales will drop to 27 thousand units, which is 3% behind last year's figure. Despite this dynamics, the manufacturer does not intend to reduce the pace of production and confirms its intention to produce 500 thousand cars in 2025.
According to analysts, the company faces two possible ways to overcome the situation: either revise prices downward, or cut production volumes. The second scenario, however, looks unlikely, since the enterprise has large scales, and it is extremely difficult to quickly reconfigure production lines.
As of the beginning of the year, approximately 700 thousand new cars have accumulated in warehouses in Russia — this is 400 thousand more than in January 2024. More than half of these stocks fall on the products of the domestic brand, the rest mostly consist of cars from Chinese manufacturers.
