During 2024, 2 million electric cars found their owners on the European market, which turned out to be 1.2% less than a year earlier. As usual, the most such cars were sold in Great Britain, Germany, and France. Our country ranked 18th in this list by the total number of electric vehicles sold.

It is worth noting that in terms of the percentage of electric cars among all newly purchased cars (16.1%), Ukraine rose to 15th position, while in the previous year it was in 14th place. In this list, our state overtook Ireland and Germany, but yielded to France and Great Britain.

Norway continues to hold the lead in the share of electric cars on the market — there, 88.9% of all new cars were electric (in 2023, this figure reached 82.4%). Denmark took second place with a result of 51.5% (compared to 36.3% in 2023), and the Maltese island came third with 37.7% (a year earlier — 20.4%).

If we compare the situation with the Czech Republic, where new car sales reached 231 thousand units last year, Ukraine looks advantageous in terms of the number of electric vehicles sold — 11.5 thousand versus 10.9 thousand. At the same time, the share of "green" cars in the Czech Republic was only 4.6%, which is significantly inferior to the Ukrainian 16.1%.
