Chinese automaker FAW Group has significantly strengthened its position in the Fortune Global 500 ranking, moving up 38 places. In total, 129 companies from China made it to the list this year. According to published data, the company's revenue for the past fiscal year reached $89.8 billion, which is 29% higher than the previous year's figure. The company employs more than 142,000 people.
FAW Group is among the world's leading manufacturers of passenger cars, trucks, and buses. Founded in 1953, the company is considered China's oldest automaker. Annual sales volumes exceed three million vehicles. In the first six months of 2019, the company produced 1.6 million cars.
For many decades, FAW Group has cooperated with the world's largest automotive concerns, producing cars both under its own brand and models from Volkswagen, Audi, Mazda, and Toyota.
The company's products are represented in the markets of 40 countries. The company has 28 subsidiaries, and FAW holds controlling stakes in 18 other companies. The automaker's research centers operate in the USA, EU countries, and China — five in total.
Earlier, it was reported about FAW's plans to enter the Ukrainian market of passenger and commercial vehicles. In particular, the company signed exclusive agreements with the AIS Group of Companies, which is one of the largest operators in Ukraine for the sale and service of cars, buses, and agricultural machinery. According to the terms of the agreements, AIS will handle the import and retail sale of FAW trucks with a load capacity from 1.5 to 40 tons, as well as passenger models — sedans and crossovers. In addition, the partner's tasks include developing the dealer network and providing warranty and post-warranty service. Sales of FAW cars in Ukraine are scheduled to begin in September 2019.
