Introducing the all-new generation of Accent, Hyundai Motor steadfastly follows its Modern Premium concept, expanding the notion of a car as merely a means of transportation and providing brand model owners with a unique opportunity to take advantage of advanced technologies. The main changes in the new Accent affected the design, dimensions, engine lineup, and transmissions, as well as options, the list of which has been significantly expanded compared to the previous generation car.
Completely new design. The fourth generation of Hyundai Accent (HC) received a completely new harmonious, moderately aggressive, and elegant exterior and interior design. The front of the car is adorned with a new Cascade Grille radiator grille, which is integrated into a more sporty and imposing front bumper with wedge-shaped side niches with chrome inserts, housing new fog lights. The car's headlights have acquired a more refined shape, are equipped with built-in LED daytime running lights, and the static cornering light function. The body profile has gained more dynamic forms, and the rear of the car boasts a completely new trunk lid, a rear bumper with a stylish contrasting color insert in the diffuser area, and original-shaped rear lights with LED optics.
The brand's designers changed the cabin architecture, installed new seats with more pronounced lateral support, and used higher quality and more wear-resistant materials in the interior trim. The driver's workplace has been significantly transformed: a completely new instrument panel and steering wheel have appeared here, and the center console is turned towards the driver for convenient use of all functions of the car's climate and multimedia systems.
Increased dimensions. Compared to the previous generation Hyundai Accent, the body length of the new model has increased by 30 mm (to 4405 mm), while the front overhang has decreased by 10 mm (to 830 mm), and the rear has become longer by 10 mm (to 975 mm). The body width has also increased – by 20 mm (to 1720 mm), while the height remains the same – 1470 mm. The wheelbase, increased by 30 mm to 2600 mm, has allowed for more space in the car's cabin, as well as increasing the useful trunk volume from 470 to 480 liters.
Improved body and suspension design. The content of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steels in the body structure of the new Hyundai Accent has increased to 52%, which has improved torsional rigidity and enhanced the car's handling and safety.
The company's engineers made changes to the design of the model's rear suspension: a semi-independent torsion beam is installed here, and the installation angle of the rear shock absorber struts has been changed, which has positively affected the car's comfort and handling.
In all trim levels, the new generation Hyundai Accent is equipped with an electric power steering, which has improved the model's maneuverability compared to the previous generation.
Modernized engine lineup and gearboxes. In Ukraine, the new generation Accent will be equipped with two four-cylinder petrol engines. The completely new Kappa family engine with a volume of 1.4 liters develops 100 hp and has a maximum torque of 132.4 N·m. The modernized Gamma family engine with a volume of 1.6 liters has 123 hp and a maximum torque of 150.7 N·m.
The 5MT and 4AT gearboxes, which interacted with the 1.4-liter engine of the previous generation model, will be replaced by modern 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. These same gearboxes will work in conjunction with the 1.6-liter petrol engine.
Thanks to the installation of new engines and transmissions, the new Hyundai Accent has become more economical: the combined fuel consumption for the model with a 1.4-liter engine is 5.7 l/100 km (6.4 l/100 km – for automatic transmission), and for the 1.6-liter engine – 6.0 l/100 km (6.7 l/100 km – for automatic transmission).
Expanded list of options. The new Hyundai Accent will be available with options unique to its class. Among them: six airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, a rear-view camera with dynamic trajectory markings, heated washer nozzles, heated windshield, heated rear seats, engine start button, Smart Trunk remote trunk opening function, a modern multimedia system with a 7-inch screen, navigation, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android AUTO mobile interfaces, and much more. Even in the basic trim, two airbags, air conditioning, Hill Assist Control, ESP, VSM, and other options are available.
Official sales of the new generation Hyundai Accent at Avtobeg LLC dealerships are scheduled for March 2017. Prices and trim levels of the model will be announced closer to the start of sales.
