The color virtual programmable instrument cluster Active Info Display is an LCD screen with a resolution of 1440x540 pixels and a diagonal of 31.2 cm (12 inches). It completely replaces the standard instrument panel, showing all the necessary information to the driver: speed, engine speed, and also allows displaying navigation maps. There are five display options available in 2-D and 3-D formats. Volkswagen used such an interactive screen in the Passat for the first time.
Active Info Display is controlled by buttons on the multifunction steering wheel, which can be used to switch display profiles. For example, the standard mode "Fuel consumption and range" shows average consumption since the engine start, since the last refueling, and over a long period. In navigation mode, the speedometer and tachometer scales shrink and move to the edges, freeing up space for the map. The display also shows data from other vehicle systems, including multimedia: contacts, photos, or album covers. All this information is placed on the central console directly in front of the driver, in his field of view. As a result, it is a convenient and stylish device that also clearly displays information in Russian.
