"The Ministry of Internal Affairs plans a complete revision of the department's staffing structure. The State Automobile Inspection will become the Road Police," said Sirenko.
The reform of the State Automobile Inspection has already begun, and currently, the ways of the department's development are being determined. "I am not yet ready to say which final version of the road police will be adopted in Ukraine – European or Belarusian," said Anatoliy Sirenko. According to him, it's not about the name, but the essence of the reforms. It is necessary to restore citizens' trust, so the reforms will not end with a simple renaming of the department.
In addition, the State Automobile Inspection plans to tighten penalties for drivers for driving in lanes designated for public transport, and in case of the violator's absence, inspectors will leave receipts for improper parking on the car's windshield.
Also, at the press conference, it was mentioned that speed limits will be increased in all regional centers, and tow trucks and impound lots may be banned.
