The charity initiative was organized by the "Off-Road Adventure Club" together with "Automotive Europe Corporation", which is the official importer of BYD in Ukraine.
For the trip called "Northern Cordon", the BYD representative office will allocate three S6 crossovers. On these cars, the humanitarian cargo will be carried by journalists from specialized publications — "Avtotsentr", "Za Rulem Ukraina", "Motor News", as well as online resources Autoportal.ua and InfoCar.ua. The team will be joined by representatives of TSN 1+1 and the site "AvtoPravda".
The tasks of the "Northern Cordon" expedition include:
- Delivery of humanitarian aid to military units located near the northern borders of Ukraine;
- Assessment of the needs of these units for medical support;
- Determining the need to create first aid points in populated areas and train local residents;
- Checking the condition of district roads and searching for alternative access routes to these populated areas.
In addition to the BYD S6 crossovers, which feature suitable ground clearance and a spacious trunk, the mission will also use prepared off-road vehicles of the "Off-Road Adventure Club" participants.
The expedition will last three days. The route will pass through Kyiv, Kozelets, Chernihiv, then to military units along the border area, to the state border, then through Novhorod-Siverskyi and back to Kyiv.
The organizers and journalists will have to see with their own eyes the situation on the northern borders of Ukraine and check whether there are alternative routes near the border. The main goal is to fulfill a social mission and bring humanitarian aid to the border areas. As it turned out, the military guarding the border lack almost everything except fighting spirit. Everyone is invited to participate in collecting money and items that may be useful to soldiers in the field — from hygiene products to radios. The full list is given below (we do not indicate quantities for obvious reasons, but the needs are quite significant):
