At the Beijing Auto Show, which will take place in April, Beijing Auto will present its restyled version of a military SUV that looks exactly like the German Gelandewagen. We have already written about the civilian modification of this car, which is distinguished by an unusually weak 2.4-liter gasoline engine with 143 hp. There is still hope that the auto show will showcase a model with a more powerful engine from SAAB.

The military version, which has received the additional letter J in its name, will be equipped with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with 150 hp and a torque of 235 Nm. It is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

In addition to the gasoline unit, the B80VJ should also get a 3.2-liter V-6 diesel engine. Furthermore, there is information that a 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel assembled under a Cummins license may be installed.

The vehicle for the military will be used not only for transporting officers but will also be able to carry weapons: a heavy machine gun or a light rocket-propelled grenade launcher. In addition, work is underway on an ultra-light version for airborne troops.
