All-wheel drive on the R version appeared largely thanks to the triumph of Sebastien Ogier in the classic rally, where he drove a racing Polo. The same 4Motion transmission is also used on the Audi S1 model.
Under the hood is a two-liter turbo engine developing 250 horsepower. A six-speed robotic gearbox with two clutches is responsible for transmitting torque. With this combination, the Polo R is capable of reaching the first "hundred" in less than six seconds.

Today, the most powerful production version of the Polo remains the R WRC. Its engine produces 220 horsepower, and the drive is only front-wheel. The price of such a model is 33 thousand 900 euros.
