In 2013, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine supplemented the Traffic Rules with clause 9.8. Not all drivers have fully gotten used to this innovation yet, so it is worth reminding about the need to turn on low beam headlights or use daytime running lights.

Many modern cars are already equipped with daytime running lights from the factory. Such lights emit white light and are most often based on LEDs. Their advantage is low energy consumption and a long service life.

Owners of cars without factory DRLs should use low beam headlights. If you install running lights yourself, traffic police officers may have complaints, considering such lighting not provided for by the factory design of the vehicle.

On cars manufactured in the USA, running lights are orange. In this case, it is also better to turn on the low beam to avoid unnecessary disputes with the inspector.

More details about the legal aspects of installing running lights yourself can be found in our article “Relevant: details on installing daytime running lights and their legality in Ukraine”.
