Information about the plans of AvtoVAZ regarding the Lada Samara model was made public by the head of the enterprise's marketing department, Alexander Bredikhin, citing data from Avtosreda.
According to Alexander Bredikhin, production of Lada Samara sedans will be stopped in December 2012. In the next year, 2013, only sedans produced in 2012 will remain on sale in the domestic passenger car market. As for Lada Samara hatchbacks, their production will continue until December 2013 inclusive. Already in 2014, the entire Lada Samara model range will cease to exist. The main reason for this decision is the market entry by that time of more modern and safer Lada Granta hatchbacks, equipped with the latest technology.
Currently, the Samara is available to customers in three body types: sedan, as well as three- and five-door hatchback. The four-door version is produced in two trim levels - Standard and Luxe. The basic configuration includes central locking, electric windows on the front doors, and a full-size spare wheel.
