As reported by Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation Sergei Aristov, the final version of the project for the construction of a transport crossing across the strait will be determined in the coming weeks.
«We will make a decision on the final project either by the end of this month or in July. The latest date is July 18», Aristov noted.
According to him, more than 70 proposals for a bridge across the Kerch Strait were under consideration. As a result, two options made it to the shortlist. It was decided to completely abandon the tunnel, since the geological features of the strait do not allow its implementation. Currently, options for a combined bridge that will combine rail and road traffic are being worked out.
