The start of Korean sales of the "creative" Daewoo Matiz is scheduled for September 1. In the domestic market, the car will be offered in three trims — Pop, Jazz, and Groove, with prices ranging from $7,200 to $8,000. The new model will reach European dealers only in early 2010. In Ukraine, this model will likely be sold under the name Chevrolet Spark.
Under the hood of the Matiz Creative will be a four-cylinder 1.0-liter engine producing 70 horsepower. For a car that is 3.6 meters long and weighs 910 kilograms, this should be sufficient. Later, a 1.2-liter engine with 78 hp will be added to the lineup (for comparison: the familiar Daewoo Matiz is equipped with a three-cylinder unit with 51 hp). Korean engineers emphasize that the new Matiz is a quite modern car. The equipment list includes four airbags, an anti-lock braking system, air conditioning, parking sensors, and other options typical for cars of a higher class.
