As it became known, by the end of this year, a pilot batch of electric cars will be assembled at the Chinese plant, after which their test trials will begin. Serial production in China is likely to start in 2022, and at the new plant near Berlin — a year later.
At the moment, there is not much information about the new Tesla electric car. It is known that it will be built on a shortened version of the Model 3 platform, and externally it will resemble this sedan. According to unconfirmed information, the car will be called Model 2, and its main rivals will be Volkswagen ID.3 and the new Renault Megane.
According to Elon Musk, it will be possible to make the car cheaper thanks to innovative 4680 format batteries and more modern production solutions. The base version will be able to cover about 250 km without charging, and in addition to it, modifications with a range of 400 and 560 km will be available.
