The new Mercedes S680 Guard 4Matic is protected to the strictest standard (for passenger cars) VPAM VR10. That is, it can withstand hits from an AK-47 assault rifle or a 7.62 mm sniper rifle, as well as the explosion of a hand grenade.

The sedan is protected by steel and composite armor, and bulletproof glass reaches 10 cm in thickness. Michelin PAX tires allow driving 30 km with a puncture. Although outwardly nothing gives away an armored car, and in the cabin there are no particular differences from the standard Mercedes S-Class 2021.

The armor increased the weight of the Mercedes S680 Guard 4Matic to 4.2 tons, and only a 6.0-liter V12 twin-turbo with 612 hp can handle such weight. However, even with it, the maximum speed is 190 km/h versus 250 km/h for the unarmored Mercedes-Maybach S680. The car's arsenal includes all-wheel drive and air suspension that scans the road.
