Like the Volkswagen Golf R hatchback, the wagon received a two-liter turbo four-cylinder engine with 320 hp and 420 Nm of torque. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 4.9 seconds, and the top speed is limited to 250 km/h in the standard version and 270 km/h with the Performance package.

The new Volkswagen Golf R Wagon received a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic and all-wheel drive. The Performance package adds a special drift mode, and adaptive dampers are offered for an extra charge. Naturally, the wagon's chassis was recalibrated and larger brakes were installed.

The hot wagon can be distinguished by the modified radiator grille, modest body kit, and 18-inch wheels. At the rear, four exhaust pipes are visible.

In the interior of the Volkswagen Golf R Wagon, carbon-look inserts appeared. Also, sporty steering wheel and seats are installed. The sports car turned out practical, its cabin is more spacious than the hatchback's, and the trunk is larger – 611-1642 liters.
