Despite the fact that the photo shows only part of the car, its design as a whole is no longer a secret (before that, the SUV was "spotted" as a prototype in spy photos and in unofficial sketches). Thus, it is known that the Sportage 2022 will not only abandon the stylistic language of its predecessors, but also noticeably distance itself from the current Kia model range. In particular, it will receive deliberately angular multi-layer optics with boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights, and the body panels will acquire a more complex shape.

The interior of the Kia Sportage 2022 has not yet been declassified, but it is expected that it will also have its own style, however, the brand's bestseller will inherit the digital instrument cluster and large multimedia screen from the platform-sharing Hyundai Tucson, which changed its generation last fall. From the latter, it will also get a range of engines: in Europe, for example, these will be a turbocharged 1.6 T-GDI gasoline four-cylinder (150 hp) and a 1.6 CRDi turbodiesel (115 hp), as well as three engines with a "mild hybrid" system – a 1.6 T-GDI gasoline engine with 150 or 180 hp, plus a 1.6 CRDi diesel (136 hp). In the US, the new model will most likely be offered with a 2.5 GDI naturally aspirated gasoline engine (190 hp), and in South Korea with a 2.0 CRDi turbodiesel (186 hp). At the same time, for most markets, the new model should also be available with a top-end 230-horsepower plug-in hybrid setup, based on the 1.6 T-GDI Smartstream engine (180 hp, 265 Nm).

Also, in some markets, the Tucson lineup includes a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine with 156 hp, with which this crossover is sold, in particular, in Ukraine. It is likely that with this unit, as well as the aforementioned 1.6-liter diesel with 136 hp and a hybrid setup, the new Sportage will also come to our country.

By the way, a couple of weeks ago, a prototype of the Sportage 2022 was spotted on the roads…. of Kyiv.
