The Basecamp version can be distinguished from the standard Volkswagen Taos 2021 by its protective plastic body kit and off-road high-profile Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail tires. In addition, ground clearance has been increased, and a roof rack and additional lighting have appeared on the roof.
The underbody is covered with metal plates. Moreover, the hood and roof are painted in matte black with bright orange stripes. The cargo area is separated from the cabin by a grille.
The powertrain remains unchanged: the Volkswagen Taos Basecamp crossover is equipped with a 1.5-liter 158-horsepower turbo engine and a 7-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. However, the chassis has been refined for off-road use: reinforced long-travel suspension springs from H&R Special have been installed.
