The electric version of the legendary G-Class SUV will be named Mercedes-Benz EQG — this decision aligns with the naming system adopted for the German manufacturer's electric cars, for example EQA (electric GLA) or EQV (electric V-Class). The name was reserved back in 2016, and now the company has registered rights to two modifications — EQG 560 and EQG 580.

Thus, the electric Mercedes G-Class will appear in two versions that will differ in power and range. Official technical parameters are not yet disclosed, but it can be confidently assumed that both versions will get all-wheel drive and two electric motors.

It is worth noting that the Mercedes EQG will not be the first electric "Gelik". Tuning studios have long been independently converting this SUV into an electric vehicle, and one such example belongs to Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The exact date of the Mercedes EQG presentation is still unknown. But it is already known that in mid-April the debut of another electric car will take place — the new Mercedes EQS.
