According to available information, Toyota and Tesla are joining forces to create a new platform that will underpin a whole range of electric vehicles. It has become known that the first joint novelty will be a compact electric crossover, the starting price of which will not exceed 25 thousand dollars.
Currently, Toyota's model lineup does not include electric crossovers, but such versions will appear soon. Representatives of the Japanese brand state that by 2025, 40% of produced cars will be represented by electric cars and plug-in hybrids, and by 2030 this figure will reach 70%.
It is worth noting that this is not the first experience of partnership between Toyota and Tesla. Back in 2010, the American company participated in the development of the electric version of the Toyota RAV4 EV. In addition, Toyota previously owned a small stake (1.43%) in Tesla's capital, but these shares were sold in 2017.
