The Wuling Zhengtu has decent dimensions: length is 5105 mm, width is 1640 mm, wheelbase is 3160 mm. The cargo platform size is 2000 x 1520 mm. The pickup's exterior is modest (even somewhat cheap-looking), but the interior is upholstered in leatherette, and there is also multimedia with an 8-inch screen. The wheels are 17-inch.

Under the hood of the Zhengtu is a simple 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine producing 99 hp and 140 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and rear-wheel drive. The trim is also "minimal": there is only ABS (without ESP!), two airbags, rear parking sensors, and power-adjustable mirrors.

The cheap body-on-frame pickup will be sold not only in China – it is an export model. For example, its appearance is expected in Southeast Asia.

By the way, while SAIC and General Motors have started accepting orders for the new model, full-scale sales will begin in May. However, by then the price will already increase by $700-900.

Earlier, AvtoPortal wrote that another SAIC-GM-Wuling model – an electric car for $4,500 – outsold the Tesla Model 3.
