Thanks to such demand, Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV has already become the second best-selling electric car in China after Tesla Model 3. And this is despite the fact that the California brand's sedan was sold for a whole year, while the hero of this article has only been sold since the summer of 2020. Local media predict that at this pace, Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV will become the most popular electric car in China by the end of 2021.
The key feature of this electric car is its price. For the car, albeit very compact, they ask for 4.5 thousand dollars; at the same time, its characteristics are quite sufficient for moving around the city: the range is 120 km (but there is also a version for 170 km), the maximum speed is 100 km/h. Among the disadvantages, there is, for example, no air conditioning, although it can be installed as an option (then the cost of the car will increase to just over 5,000 dollars).
By the way, such a successful project belongs to SAIC-GM, a joint venture between General Motors and the Chinese SAIC Motor. However, Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV, apparently, is not destined to be a purely Chinese car: a few days ago, the Latvian company Dartz announced that it had agreed to sell this electric car in Europe. For this, the car will be modernized: additional safety systems (ESP, airbags) will appear, and the range will be increased to 200 km. True, it will also cost more - almost 10,000 euros. The name of the compact car will also be changed - to FreZe Nikrob E.
