The global launch was previously unconfirmed and considered unlikely, as the two tuned Shelby cars were sold only in the US, but a fan's question about whether the car would be sold outside the States was not refuted by a Ford spokesperson.
Like the previous Mach 1 Mustang, the latest iteration differs from the standard car with a body focused on performance characteristics, the most obvious element of which is a custom-made "shark nose" front end, designed for optimal aerodynamic efficiency and featuring a unique 3D radiator grille that mimics a lightweight retro-style design and new air intakes. The improvements mean the Mach 1 has 22% more downforce than the Mustang GT with the Performance Pack.

Low-gloss trim elements, including mirror caps, spoiler, and badges, are said to "provide a first-class appearance," and the custom set of 19-inch five-spoke aluminum wheels is inspired by the Magnum 500 items fitted to the original Mach 1. The Mustang Mach 1 has 473 hp from the 5.0-liter version of the Mustang V8.
Performance figures are not yet confirmed, but the aerodynamic and mechanical changes mean the Mach 1 will surpass the standard car with a 4.3-second sprint to 100 km/h and a top speed of 250 km/h.
In standard specification, the Mach 1 sends its power to the rear axle via a 6-speed manual gearbox - also Shelby - which has been equipped with reverse, and is mated to a twin-disc clutch and a short-throw gear lever from the Mustang GT. A 10-speed automatic gearbox is available as an optional extra.
The optional Handling Package, available only for manual cars, includes a larger front splitter, modified front wheel edge shape, and Shelby GT500 tire splash guards, allowing for a 128% increase in downforce compared to the Mustang GT. The wheels are also wider - from 9.5 inches to 10.5 inches at the front and from 10 inches to 11 inches at the rear.
Additional updates include a pair of side-mounted heat exchangers to keep the engine and gearbox cool, a stiffer steering shaft, a newly calibrated power steering assist, Michelin PS4 tires with improved performance characteristics, and stiffer rear subframe bushings.

The interior is largely identical to that of the standard car, except for aluminum trim, new door sills, a white gear shift knob, and engraved badging throughout.
Buyers choosing the optional appearance package can paint their car in a custom shade of "Fighter Jet Grey," as well as specify reflective hood stripes and side stripes in red, white, or orange. Standard colors include Race Red, Grabber Yellow, and Twister Orange.
The Mustang Mach 1 is expected to arrive at American and Canadian dealerships in spring 2021, with no details yet on when a potential European launch might occur.
