The Italian brand intends to expand its lineup of crossovers by adding a new model. This car will become the second SUV model in Maserati's history, taking its place after the Levante. The company plans to spend about 800 million euros on organizing new production facilities.
The new model has been named Grecale, which comes from the name of a Mediterranean wind blowing from the northeast. This tradition of naming models has existed at Maserati for several decades: it began in 1963 with the "Mistral" model, and then continued with names such as "Ghibli", "Bora", "Merak", and "Khamsin". Even the Levante, which appeared in 2016, was named according to the same principle.
In the teaser published by the automaker, it is visible that the new crossover will have a slightly more compact body than the Levante. On the front part of the car, in the area of the radiator grille, a characteristic trident logo will be placed. The rest of the model's characteristics are still kept secret.
During the presentation, Maserati representatives did not disclose technical details about the Grecale's powertrain. However, according to preliminary data, the crossover will be available in three versions: hybrid, fully electric, and traditional gasoline.
