The new model is based on the same CMF-C/D platform, which has undergone modernization. The dimensions of the crossover have changed slightly: length and height have decreased to 4648 and 1699 mm, respectively, while width, on the contrary, has increased from 1820 to 1839 mm. Unlike the old model, the new X-Trail is offered exclusively in a five-seat configuration.

Already in the base version, a media center with an 8-inch screen is now installed, and a fully digital instrument panel with a diagonal of 12.3 inches is available as an option. Engineers have also refined the semi-automatic control system ProPilot Assist: now it can slow down the car using GPS data about the terrain and features of the road ahead.

So far, only one powertrain has been announced for the new model — a 2.5-liter gasoline engine with direct injection, developing 184 hp and 245 Nm of torque. It works in conjunction with the familiar CVT. As before, buyers will be able to choose a version with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
