A total of 20 students from the Skoda Academy will be involved in the project, who were initially asked to sketch their ideas on paper. The study of drawings and concepts will be handled by the chief designer of the Czech brand, Oliver Stefani. At the moment, there are early design sketches of the car, and the finished vehicle is expected to debut in June of this year.

Recall that the compact model Scala, which replaced the Rapid liftback and wagon in Europe, debuted at the end of 2018. The top version of the car is equipped with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline four-cylinder engine producing 150 hp and 250 N·m of torque. The engine can be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed DSG robot.

The experimental version of the Scala hatchback will be the seventh such project involving students. For example, last year, students developed the Mountiaq crossover based on the Kodiaq model. The car received a set of equipment for driving in severe off-road conditions.
