The Volkswagen Golf GTI hot hatch received a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. The unit produces 245 hp and 370 Nm of torque. The engine can work with a six-speed manual gearbox. Optionally available is a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

The car is built on the upgraded MQB platform. The hatchback features MacPherson strut suspension at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear. The car has front-wheel drive, an electronic differential lock, and adaptive dampers. It differs from other GTI variants by its sport exhaust system with two tailpipes and red brake calipers. Customers can choose from 17-, 18-, and 19-inch wheels.

Customers will also be offered a diesel version of the hot hatch called the Volkswagen Golf GTD. This version is equipped with a 2.0-liter TDI unit producing 200 hp and 400 Nm of torque. The engine works with a seven-speed robotic gearbox.

The hybrid Volkswagen Golf GTE is equipped with a 1.4 TSI turbo engine producing 150 hp and an electric motor. The total power of this hot hatch is 245 horsepower. On electric power alone, the new model can travel about 60 kilometers.
The dynamic characteristics of the hot Golfs are not yet known. The public debut of the cars will take place at the Geneva Motor Show in early March. Orders are expected to begin this summer. The first cars will appear at dealers in the fall of this year.
