The investment in the enterprise will amount to 2.2 billion dollars, and in addition to the pickup, they will also assemble the Cruise Origin autonomous vehicle, as well as future "green" SUVs and crossovers.

"Thanks to these investments, GM will take a big step forward, turning dreams of a fully electric future into reality," said General Motors President Mark Reuss during a press conference. "Our electric pickup will be the first in a line of battery trucks that will go on the assembly line in the coming years." It is already known that the start of production of the pickup, which, according to rumors, will revive the Hummer brand, is scheduled for the end of 2021.

The amount of additional investment in tooling and launch of the assembly line will be 800 million dollars. They will be spent on re-equipping paint shops, modernizing machines and control equipment. Another 2.5 billion dollars will be allocated by the GM-LG Chem joint venture to organize the production of battery cells in Lordstown, Ohio, USA. From them, traction batteries will be assembled for all electric models of General Motors.
