The prototype, which was almost ready for series production, will now be used as an experimental platform to study the possibilities of electrification of future brand models.
The electric car is equipped with a pair of electric motors powered by a 65-kilowatt-hour battery. The total power of the power plant is 610 horsepower with a torque of 950 Nm. Such a liftback accelerates to one hundred kilometers per hour in about four seconds, and its top speed is limited to 250 kilometers per hour. According to the WLTP cycle, the range reaches 322 kilometers.
Back in April 2019, information appeared about the model's readiness for launch at the plant in St. Athan, where it was planned to produce 155 cars. However, now these intentions seem to remain unrealized — the Rapid E will never make it to the assembly line. At the same time, Autocar does not disclose data on the number of orders placed for this model.
