The most notable innovation in the Insignia is the introduction of a nine-speed automatic transmission, which replaced the eight-speed gearbox. The new transmission is offered only for cars with the 2.0 turbo engine: in the civilian version, the engine produces 200 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, while in the GSi it produces 230 horsepower (previously the power was 260 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque). To comply with new emission standards, the unit is equipped with a cylinder deactivation system at low loads, which reduced fuel consumption by an average of 18 percent.

Following the civilian versions of the Insignia, the sporty GSi variant received the IntelliLux LED Pixel Light matrix headlights with 168 LED elements. In addition, the sedan and station wagon got an electro-hydraulic brake booster, improved mechanisms with four-piston Brembo calipers, and active grille shutters.

The equipment also includes a new rear-view camera and several multimedia system options with support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The FlexRide adaptive suspension and the GKN Twinster rear differential with torque vectoring control remain unchanged.
