The coupe and liftback can be distinguished from their predecessors by a wider radiator grille, above which additional thin air intakes have appeared, designed to recall the famous Audi Sport quattro of the mid-1980s. In addition, the shape of the side skirts has changed. Finally, darkened LED headlights indicate belonging to the RS family.

As for the interior, a 10.1-inch touchscreen of the improved MMI infotainment system on the MIB3 platform with a more powerful processor has become available for the new models. As before, the driver has a fully digital instrument panel with a diagonal of 12.3 inches.
The power unit has not undergone changes. The updated Audi RS5 and RS5 Sportback are equipped with a 2.9-liter twin-turbo "six" developing 450 hp and 600 N·m of torque. The engine works in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Both cars are capable of accelerating to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, and their maximum speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h. For an additional fee, the electronic limiter is moved to 280 km/h.
