Kia noted that together with the fifth generation of the Optima, a new design direction debuted, which will be followed in the development of future models of the South Korean brand. A distinctive feature of the sedan was the evolved radiator grille "Tiger Smile" of a new shape, massive side air intakes, as well as rear lights united by a stop signal line.
The length of the new Kia Optima is 4905 mm (50 mm more than the previous generation model), width — 1860 mm (plus 25 mm), but the height decreased by 20 mm — to 1445 millimeters. The wheelbase size increased by 45 mm — to 2850 mm, which provided the car with a "tangible driver character".
Interior photos have not yet been published, however, judging by the design sketches, the Optima will receive a fully digital instrument panel, a large touchscreen multimedia display, a multifunctional steering wheel, as well as a round transmission selector that will replace the traditional lever.
According to preliminary data, the engine range of the fifth Kia Optima will include a 1.6-liter turbo-four with 180 hp, as well as a new Theta 3 unit with a volume of 2.5 liters and a power of 286 horsepower. The latter engine will work with a new eight-speed "robot".
In the domestic market, car sales will begin in December, and it will reach the USA and Europe a little later.
