As it became known, the new model will be equipped with an eight-speed robotic transmission with two clutches, which will replace the existing seven-speed gearbox. This information was published by the TheKoreanCarBlog portal.
In the line of power units of the future Optima, a new 2.5-liter gasoline engine with four cylinders, belonging to the Theta III family, will appear. It is with this engine that the robotic gearbox with two wet clutches will be combined.
Also, the previous 1.6-liter turbocharged unit will remain in the engine range, but it will be refined to meet stricter emission standards. Due to the tightening of environmental requirements, the manufacturer decided to abandon the current 2.0 and 2.4-liter engines.
The premiere of the new Kia Optima is expected to take place soon, and the start of serial production is scheduled for the first quarter of 2020.
