The new model will get a twin-turbo V8 engine developed by Mercedes-AMG. This refers to a modernized four-liter twin-turbo V8 used in the DB11 and new-generation Vantage supercars. However, on the DBX crossover, the unit's output will increase from 510 hp and 675 Nm of torque to 550 horsepower and 700 newton-meters. Thus, the new model's engine will become the most powerful V8 in the history of the British brand.

The company noted that the top speed of the Aston Martin DBX will exceed 290 km/h. Cornering speed will be comparable to the Vantage model, and braking performance will surpass that of the flagship DBS Superleggera supercar. This will allow the crossover to lap the Nürburgring's Nordschleife in under eight minutes.

Serial production of the British crossover will start in the first quarter of 2020. A little later, the same plant in St Athan will also produce Aston Martin electric vehicles, as well as new luxury cars that will be sold under the Lagonda brand.
