The Honda e became the first model from the Japanese manufacturer to be built on a new platform specifically developed for vehicles with purely electric powertrains. The battery pack is placed in the floor of the car between the axles, providing a low center of gravity and optimal weight distribution of 50:50. Additionally, the electric car features a fully independent suspension, which, according to the company, guarantees "amazing stability in any conditions."
The lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 35.5 kWh and liquid cooling supports fast charging, allowing the charge to be replenished from zero to 80% in just half an hour. It was previously mentioned that the Honda e's range without recharging will be up to 200 kilometers.
The Japanese have not yet shown the production version of the model. In the fall of 2017, the experimental Urban EV debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show, and in 2019, at the Geneva Motor Show, the E Prototype concept was presented, which was dubbed "a car 95% ready for production."
As of today, Honda has already opened orders for this electric vehicle. Initially, the new model will be available in four European countries: the UK, Germany, France, and Norway. The first customers will receive their cars in the spring of 2020.
