According to British media, citing insider sources, the new models will be built on a shortened version of the MSB platform used in the current Panamera. They will also inherit the engine lineup from it.
However, the models, expected to hit the market next year, will bear a different name. Thus, they will fill the gap between the 911 and the Panamera. The 2+2 cabin layout suggests that the rear seats will be more auxiliary than full-fledged.
The new two-door cars will be presented as a more practical alternative to the 911 sports cars. Among the main rivals of the future Panamera models are the BMW 8 Series Coupe and 8 Series Convertible.
