The new Sonata turned out to be the first production model to try on the new design philosophy Sensuous Sportiness. This direction was first shown on the Le Fil Rouge concept car, presented last year at the Geneva Motor Show. In addition, the sedan received a number of stylistic solutions from the HDC-2 Grandmaster crossover, which debuted last spring in Busan.
After the generation change, the Sonata became 45 mm longer, 25 mm wider, and 30 mm lower. The wheelbase size increased by 35 mm.
As for the interior, the sedan will be available with a fully digital instrument panel and a large central touchscreen for the infotainment system. In addition, the Sonata was left without a traditional gear selector: transmission mode switching is now done using buttons.
Opening the car and starting the engine, as well as managing a number of other functions, will now be possible using a smartphone with a special application.
Data on the technical characteristics of the new Hyundai Sonata will be published later. The official premiere of the next Sonata will take place in April at the New York Auto Show.
