The electric car is built on Volvo's CMA platform. This same chassis is already used by the Volvo XC40 and Lynk & Co 01 models. The new model features two electric motors with a combined output of 408 hp and 660 Nm of torque. The electric car's range is 500 km. Acceleration to 100 km/h takes less than five seconds.
A distinctive feature of the Polestar 2 is its narrow rear lights and Pixel LED headlights. An optional Performance package is already available for the electric car, featuring Ohlins dampers, Brembo brakes, gold-colored brake calipers, and 20-inch forged wheels.
The model also debuts a new Google Android HMI infotainment system with an interactive Google Assistant, which is similar in its properties to Amazon's "Alexa." The multimedia system can be controlled via an 11-inch touchscreen display.
Series production of the Polestar 2 will only be set up in 2020. In Europe, prices for the new model will start from 39,000 euros. However, initially only the top version will go on sale for 59,900 euros. Additionally, as with Volvo cars, the new Polestar 2 can be owned via subscription, with a monthly fee for use.
Initially, the model will be available for purchase in China, the USA, Canada, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the UK.
