The convertible roof raises or lowers in less than 12 seconds at speeds up to 50 km/h. The folding top is equipped with magnesium arches that prevent ballooning at high speeds.

The open-top 911 is powered by a two-liter engine producing 450 hp and 530 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

The rear-wheel-drive 911 Carrera S convertible can accelerate from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, while the all-wheel-drive Carrera 4S does it in 3.8 seconds. With the optional Sport Chrono package, the time can be improved by another 0.2 seconds.

The eighth-generation Porsche 911 coupe debuted at the Los Angeles auto show in November last year.
