The next Passat resembles an enlarged new "Jetta" presented in Detroit at the beginning of this year. In particular, the sedan received a similar design of the massive radiator grille, visually combined with new LED optics.

The Passat is based on a modernized platform of its predecessor — the sedan was not transferred to the modular MQB chassis. The Passat is equipped with a slightly improved two-liter engine producing the same 176 hp (torque increased from 250 N·m to 280 N·m). The modification with the VR6 engine was decided to be abandoned on the American market.

In addition, due to the rejection of the MQB architecture, the Passat will not receive a hybrid version, nor a digital instrument panel. The list of options will include light and rain sensors, adaptive cruise control, as well as a lane keeping assist system.
