The exterior of the new "three" will continue the development of the KODO design philosophy. In the engine lineup, according to preliminary data, units of the SkyActive-X series will appear. These engines will become the world's first production gasoline engines where fuel will ignite from compression rather than from a spark plug.
The working mixture in the cylinder will be able to self-ignite under pressure, similar to diesel installations. At the same time, the SkyActive-X will retain conventional spark plugs — they will be used in high-load modes.
