Sollers CEO Vadim Shvetsov spoke about the prospects of a compact crossover that was being developed under the UAZ brand. According to him, the production version of the model, if it appears, will not resemble the UAZ-3170 concept — it will be a different brand, a different concept, and a different project configuration. The name for the new model has not yet been chosen, but it is known for sure that it will not be a UAZ crossover. The company's portfolio includes many brands from which a choice will have to be made, and the car itself will belong to a different type of vehicle. Shvetsov emphasized that the idea of creating a small SUV under the UAZ brand is no longer being considered, and instead an innovative vehicle will appear, most likely under a different brand.
Work on a compact crossover at the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant started in 2014, but then the project was suspended. In the summer of 2018, information appeared about the resumption of model development.
It was assumed that the crossover would get a body-on-frame platform with independent suspension on all wheels. The model's equipment was also to include modern safety systems and a multimedia complex. The car was planned to be produced in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. The start of mass production was expected in 2022.
