The new crossover got its name from the Latin word Arcanum, meaning "mystery." As explained in the press service, the name Arkana emphasizes the unique features of the future model and its special attractiveness, and the very concept of the car is associated with mystery, appeal, and the pursuit of innovation.

According to unofficial information, the technical basis for the crossover will be the Renault Kaptur platform, which, in turn, is based on the Duster chassis. The Kaptur engine range includes gasoline units with a displacement of 1.6 and 2.0 liters, producing 114 and 143 horsepower, respectively. The car is offered in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions.

The French manufacturer considers the Renault Arkana as a global model intended for sale in Eastern Europe, China, and South America. At the same time, the Russian market will be the first for the new model: sales are scheduled to start in 2019.
