The overall length of the sedan is 4549 millimeters, width – 1796 millimeters, height – 1446 millimeters, and the wheelbase reaches 2729 millimeters. Thus, the new model is 91 millimeters shorter, 19 millimeters wider, and 14 millimeters higher than the CLA-Class. The wheelbase of the next-generation car is 30 millimeters longer. The trunk volume has decreased from 470 to 420 liters.
In China, an extended modification of the A-Class sedan was previously presented. Its length is 4609 millimeters, and the wheelbase is 2789 millimeters. They plan to sell such a car only in China.

As the company says, the new A-Class sedan has the lowest drag coefficient among all production cars – 0.22 (while for the hatchback this figure reaches 0.25). During the development of the car, a wind tunnel in Sindelfingen was used: almost the entire bottom of the four-door is covered with a shield, and aerodynamic efficiency was calculated even for wheels and tires.
At the front, the A-Class sedan has McPherson struts, and the type of rear suspension depends on the engine and modification. Cars with all-wheel drive, adaptive dampers, and top engines use a multi-link setup. All other versions – a torsion beam.

Initially, the four-door will be available only with two engines: a 163-horsepower gasoline unit (A 200) and a 116-horsepower diesel (A 180 d). Both engines work in conjunction with a seven-speed dual-clutch robot.
The sedan already comes standard with a digital instrument cluster. In standard equipment, it is seven inches, and in top trim – 10.25 inches. The MBUX multimedia system screen will be the same size in this case.

Also, the model's equipment will include LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring, forward collision warning, and hands-free trunk opening.
The sedan will be available in several modifications and various option packages, including Style, Progressive, and AMG Line. Traditionally, in the first year of sales, the model will receive a "launch" special version Edition 1, distinguished by special exterior and interior design.
The new A-Class sedan will be assembled in Mexico (production will begin this year) and Germany (production will start in 2019).
