Previously, diesels were available only for heavy Super Duty series pickups, while the standard F-150 version throughout its 70-year history used exclusively gasoline engines.

Under the hood of the new pickup modification will be a three-liter V6 diesel producing 258 hp and 597 Nm. A 10-speed automatic transmission is paired with the engine. The declared average fuel consumption for such a tandem is 9.4 l/100 km.

The manufacturer has not yet disclosed prices for the first diesel Ford F-150, but orders for the model will begin to be accepted in May.
